Campaign money by state

Total money raised by federal officials and candidates we track, grouped by their state.

What does this mean?

Each figure adds up the total receipts each tracked politician reported to the FEC for the current election cycle. It includes federal campaigns only, not state or local races.

"Tracked" counts politicians VoteScope has finance records for, not every candidate on a ballot. States with fewer tracked people will show lower totals. A missing state means we have no records for it, not that nobody raised money there.

Highest fundraisers this cycle

Current officeholders ranked by total money raised, as reported to the FEC.

What does this mean?

This ranks the amount raised, nothing else. Raising more money doesn't mean someone is more popular, more effective, or influenced by donors. The change shown on each card compares this cycle with the previous one.
